Contact lenses need proper care

In a few years’ time, contact lenses will also be used to keep check on parameters such as blood glucose or intraocular pressure.

However, in spite of all these advances, contact lenses will not function if they are not properly cared for.

A contact lens that is not clean loses wettability, cannot interact with the tear film and ends up being very uncomfortable. In addition, deposits can generate auto-immune reactions, such as giant papillary conjunctivitis.

Also, if the disinfection process is not carried out correctly, the use of contact lenses can lead to serious eye infections, such as microbial keratitis.

To improve the experience of contact lens users, the Disop design team works in close collaboration with the communication team and is constantly working on new formulae and proposals. Disop holds several international patents that protect its hydrogen peroxide formula using neutralising tablets.
We were pioneers in the use of hyaluronic acid in a multipurpose solution to enhance comfort and the duration of contact lens use during the day.
We were the first company to formulate a specific solution for the care of disposable lenses and of silicone hydrogel lenses.

Eye care and hyaluronic acid in Disop

We are increasingly aware of the importance of eye health. Although our eyes have a large number of defence and regeneration mechanisms, they are often subject to adverse circumstances (heating, air conditioning, work with screens, etc.). Disop has a line of eye health products in which the common denominator is hyaluronic acid, the best humectant there is. Our latest invention falls within this field. We are proud to have created an artificial tear with a completely innovative design. It is a liquid-based drop with a gel-like texture that contains a dual polymer with two humectants (0.30% hyaluronic acid+ 0.10% hydroxyethyl cellulose). Together these form a mesh that hydrates and protects the eye, increasing the sensation of comfort for longer.
